Querist : Anonymous (Querist) 14 February 2019 This query is : Resolved
I am from mumbai and i married a goan girl in 2017 and we might head for a divorce, our marriage was registered in goa.
Presently we stay in our parents house in mumbai, my wife is not working and I am salaried worker. No children
I have siblings one brother one sister
Since marriage is registered in goa which has uniform civil code, can my wife claim rights over my parents house in which we are currently staying.

Wife has right to claim maintenance and permanent alimony from husband at the time of divorce.

The wife has no right to claim any share in the self owned or ancestral property of the husband unless the property was purchased in joint name with wife.

Wife has no right to claim share in the property of the parents of the husband.

But our marriage was registered in goa which has uniform civil code wherein wife becomes 50 % partner in husbands property. Is it possible that she can put a claim on my parents house
