Procedure to change the caste after marriage

Dear Sir,
Before marriage my caste was Hindu-Brahmin.I have married since one year and my husband's caste is sheduled caste (Hindu-Vankar). Now i want to change my caste to my husaband's caste i.e. Sheduled Caste. I have made an affidavit of name change after marriage from notary but i don't have any caste certificate.
My husband stays at savar kundla, district- amreli , GUJARAT.
Please let me know the procedure and time duration for this process.
It Is urgent please do the needful.

There are lot of Supreme Court judgements on status of caste on marriage of a higher caste woman with that of a lower caste man. You can apply with the local administration for issuance of the new caste certificate.

I went to samaj kalyan vibhag at district amreli and aksed the same but their authorities have told that "on marriage of a higher caste woman with that of a lower caste man , Women's cast does not change to Scheduled Caste and will remain brahmin fore ever.

If higher cast woman marriage with Sc/St. Her cast would be what her husband's is, but only she can not get the benefit of reservation.

I will diagree with all experts. The reservation scheme for Govt service is clear. The caste status is earned by birth and not by marriage. Caste certificate identifies the applicant as " Mr/Miss/Mrs ___________ son/daughter of _______ belonging to ______ community." all other certificates/forms identify applicant as "Mr/Miss/Mrs ___________ son/daughter/ wife of". You can get caste certtificate only by FRAUD by claiming to be daughter of SC. You are born as Brahmin and will dies as Branhim in the eye of reservation law.
