Prior permission for higher studies got but change of institution

(Querist) 01 March 2015 This query is : Resolved
sirs,
greetings. i work for an autonomous body under govt in an educational inst. and i had acquired permission during 2008 to do my part-time external phd course but had to change the university during 2011 due to some problems with the univ. and the guide. this was informed to my office only later during 2013, which my office is asking explanation.

pls advice me as my job or duties were never affected due to my part time education and had never applied for long leave / study leave such that my regular job duties were affected.

thanks in anticipation

Simply give a statement that you forgot earlier to intimate about change and informed, when friends reminded me and also that the change did not affect discharge of your duties and responsibilities in the office.

You agree your lapse and request for condoning the lapse on the basis that mere change did never affect your work and never caused any inconvenience to the institution and you were not aware of the requirement, instead of pleading forgetfulness.

Having given the permission for the higher study the employer cannot indulge in nitpicking. Continuing one's education at any stage of life is an ordinary right. The employer cannot interfere unless the continuing education affects the employee's performance.

This is not a very serious lapse. You have already been granted permission to pursue higher academic education, you have not stopped it but have changed the organisation, that is all, however, you may request the authorities to condone the delay in seeking permission for change, hope this will solve the issue.
