my email is being spammed by unsolicited promotional offers by banks and various financial institutions. I do not know how they got my email id. I think through some marketing company. I have not subscribed anything. is it illegal as per any law in India?

As a lawyer we also face this problem i don't think there is a problem in it untill you open unknown mails which may be phishing mails where once clicked open or downloaded such files the sender of those mails receives your IP address mac address
