Name with space in ssc and hsc marksheets denied provisional at the university

(Querist) 31 August 2016 This query is : Resolved
Dear Experts,

I have just completed my PhD in a deemed university. I have been studying in that university for 6 years and all correspondence from that university, name in my UG/PG Certificates/marksheets, PAN Card, Passport, VISAs and Residence Permits are all marked correctly as SREEVIDYA S. However in 10th and 12th Marksheet, since they used a typewritter, they happen to have put in a space between SREE and VIDYA.

However there is absolutely no mistakes in the spelling. I have tried explaining this to the university who happen to have denied my provisional at the last minute stating this as a reason.

They are forcing me to change my name to SREE VIDYA S and also apply for correction in my UG/PG., Marksheets, subsequently on Passports, VISAs, Bankaccounts etc. This is creating a huge mental stress for me.

I have been going through your forum and I know for the fact that having a space is not going to create an issue as It has not created any issue until today. could you please guide me any official note explaining the same? Is there any official link or document which states that these type of issues are not prone for official correction? Reason I am asking is to go back and argue as you all know getting a document corrected here is not a days task and it can span for months or weeks which is not feasible for me right now.

Thank you!

Awaiting a quick solution!

You are required to make representation to the Education board which issued the said certificates to you making typographic error and should seek it thereto failing which file a civil suit and get the correction in those certificates and thereafter the same shall become the base for all subsequent documents wherein such certificates have been used or are to be used.

Ms Sreevidya,

Your admission form with the university matters much. You may better verify with the university, what style of writing name of applicant was used in the form. If wrote in separated manner, you can't hold the university responsible for the mistake. If not, university has to make due correction in the degree.

Contact the institution which issued the certificate to get the mistake rectified. If they refuse on the ground of late action, try to file case and get court directives.

If you don't have the copy of form submitted to university, obtain it.

Univ. might have adopted the stand since you might have submitted copies of 10th and 12th Marks sheet,to Univ. and Univ can relate.

In any case you need to correct the error, ignored earlier by you at school level and then correct till university.

The procedure and process is well defined and should be in website of Board, Univ.

Nothing to be added.

University bases its documents strictly in consonance with the name, date of birth and all other particulars from matriculation certificate so that certificate needs to be got corrected and all subsequent certificates shall follow.

YOu can move high court with a writ petition and you should get remedy in the admission stage itself. That is in one day.

Please meet the controller of examinations of your University and explain. Make a representation. I think it should not be a problem. I think it is an issue for gratification.

Meet the Regional Head in nearest Education Board Office and inquire procedure, submit requisite docs, deposit requisite fee.

If you have the copy of form submitted thru school during Matriculation examination then obtain a copy and attach.

The principle of your school can also help you.

If you have lost the opportunity due to delay at your part then you may have to pay the requisite fee.

Rest inquire locally.
