hello Sir,
I need a help actually I have cleared class 10th in 2007 and I need to change my surname in my 10th class marksheet from CBSE. Kindly help me to know the steps and whom should I contact for this.

Name change can be effected in 3 STEPS. First you file a Notarized Affidavit citing the reasons for change of name to the current one. Second step is give publication in two local News Papers one in your vernacular language. After this step you carry the affidavit and newspapers TO THE Government printing press and submit your Affidavit and News papers. After 4 or 5 days you'd receive official gazette publication of your name with copy to your house through registered post..The entire process takes about 1 to 1 1/2 of months. After this you make rounds to change your your name in SSC Board and to the other certifying authorities. For change in Official document such as..,Passport, Driving Licence,PAN Card, Aadhar etc. which may take bout 3months. If you appreciate this answer please click the thank you button on my profile.

In the certificate it is difficult to change name at this stage i.e. after 8-9 years. You can contact the concerned Board, know the procedure if they have any.
You can change your name otherwise and use the same. Get an affidavit attested through first class magistrate / notary, insert ad in two news papers, get it published in official gazette.

name in the certificate may not be changed. if there is some genuine mistake it may be corrected

Is any certificate issued, in addition to the mark sheet, by the CBSE to the effect of your passing in the 10th class exam?
