My college is refusing to give my documents back, help!

(Querist) 30 April 2017 This query is : Resolved
My previous college took my originals(10th and 12th marks cards) and made me lose 1 year, did not return it during CET last year when I got a seat in Dental. Im trying again this year but they are demanding 1.2 lakhs. I begged them to give it back but they wont listen. What do I do? I am not from a rich family to pay so much and my education is getting ruined! please advice

I forgot to mention: the reason they are asking is to pay for the remaining 2 years when I dropped out due to personal reasons

either pay or file consumer case.

you have hidden the material facts in the first part of query which gave it shape of extortion.

You have dropped out and made them to lose fee for one seat so why should they not demand what they lost.

File a writ of mandamus before High Court through a local prudent lawyer, your case is clear in your favour.

Why did you submit original ceritificates?
You could have shown originals, submitted copies and asked them to mark OSV or submitted attested copies.
Were you not a member of students’s unions?
Did college demand to submit originals in writing?

Did you ask college to supply you a written communication explaining reason to submit originals?

Did you submit under proper acknowledgment?

Did you ask to return originals in writing under proper acknowledgment?

Did college refuse to return in writing?

Did college demand to pay fee in writing?

may move as suggested by the expert Dr J C Vashista.

You can go ahead as advised above to file Writ Mandamus, if it is Govt body.

Relate with regulator/UGC guidelines.

If there is a guidelines that say Rs.1000/- deducted then quote it.

If you are unable to resolve on your own take help of students's unions,Local counsel of unshakable repute and integrity specializing in such/consumer matters.
