Marriage cancelled before scheduled date

My marriage is cancelled a week before it was scheduled to happen, the reason was that my father was forcing me to marry a girl and it took a toll on my physical/mental health as I was under continuous tension for 3 months. I want to know what legal action the other side can take and how to defend it?
Events:
1. The marriage for settled on 20th April.
The date of marriage was 2 July.
2. My father sent our invitation card to girl's family my may end.
3. The marriage was in gwalior and girl family is from betul(MP).
4. On 19th June my father called girl's family that I am not keeping good health and therefore can the marriage be postponed.
5. On 20th June Girl's family came to gwalior to visit me.
6. On 23 June my father called them and cancelled the marriage.
7. On 25th june my father transferred 3 lakh to girl's father bank account. This amount included 1.5 lakh rs given by them for booking venue at gwalior plus additional 1.5 lakhs to compensate them.

any further step by them?
earlier your side has stated the you are not keeping good health (lie) and marriage need to be postponed and later it has been cancelled. After invitations have been circulated.
Girls side has been subjected to unwanted humiliation by your side. They can very well allege (true/false) that marriage has been cancelled due to their refusal to meet dowry demand.
anyway su-motto refund of Rs 3 lakh can be a good defence. Much less than all the family going to Betul for prolonged trial for years.

since your father has already paid them Rs 3lakhs as compensation the girl side wont proceed any further .
it is very worng on your part to call off marriage a week before the marriage ceremony . you have no right to humilate the girl in such a fashion .

A good observation by expert Mr. Dhingra. do you anticipate her side to initiate any legal action against you for the issues involved between you and the girl and you are being held responsible ?, if there are no such issues, be free.

This is not fair on your part. Even if legal recourse is chosen by girl's side, ultimately that side will be affected taking practical part into account.

1. You have caused harm to the girl and her family for whichthey may file damage suit,
2. They may also lodge police complaint alleging that you cancelled the marriage for not getting btye demanded dowry whichyou shall have to face,
3. Your vreturning money will be a good defence for you,
4. It may also be that the girl's side will not proceed any further thinking that they have escapped a great danger narrowly.
