Dear Sirs,
I have just started my own brand of electrical brands. I have submitted my documents for Trademark registeration and have got the necessary approvals to use TM and it is under procedure. I am getting my products manufactured from various manufacturers from across india. My question is that is - is mentioning manufacturers name on the box packaging mandatory or shall i mention my firm name as marketed by and skip manufacturers name. MRP, Date of manufacture is mentioned. Please Guide

Dear Nikhil,
1. The Trade Mark registration is quite different then the name of the manufacture.
2.Why avoid printing your firm name as being the manufacture of your goods as well the information as marketed by agency. It will add to your advertisement and you will not need to appoint any marketing agency.

1. I know trademark and manufacturer is different.
2. I am not the manufacturer of the products. I am only trading but its my brand name and my box packing design. So when i am not manufacturing how can i write my name as manufacturer. I could write it as marketed by: .. Also let me know if i write my name as marketed by, do i still need to mention the name of the manufacturer or that wont be required. Also please let me know which act covers these aspects. Thanks

You have to mention the name of the manufacturer. It is mandatory.

But i have seen big brands like crompton greaves and bajaj electricals mention only marketed by. They are also getting it manufactured from someone else. How can they mention 0nly their name then??

They use of the parts manufactured by others. The major part is manufactured by them only.
