Lok adalat information needed

Sir,
Can a divorce petition filed withing 3 months on the ground of cruelty from wife's side be settled in lok adalat within 6 months of marriage..with an output or order/result of dissolution of marriage..

Sir actually my sister was married in feb of this year but due to mental sickness of the so called husband she is willing to take a divorce from the husband but the guy is not willing to go for the same so if i file a pitiation on the ground of cruality in the honorable court . and in the mean while if the guy is ready to go for a divorce after the pitiation has been introduced in the court can she aid any relief by taking the issue in the LOK ADALAT ...i mean can the issue be resolved in lok adalat and the marriage is dissolved ..kindly help

divorce petition cannot be filed unless period of 1 year has elapsed from date of marriage . it is only in exceptional circumstances can petition be filed within period of 1 year

1. Try to find out and resolve the root cause of alleged harassment of your sister by her husband.
2. Engage some counselor, elders and/or relatives to resolve/reconcile the matter amicably.
3. Although the petition for divorce can be filed but its repercussions will be damaging and destructive which shall be irreparable.
4. Consult and engage a prudent local lawyer for proper guidance and proceeding.

But,if husband and wife both are ready to go for divorce why to wait for 1 year i can understand 6 month's but 1 year is too much time ...
