i m sending bar council rules for admission: Eligibility for admission: (a) Three Year Law Degree Course: An applicant who has graduated in any discipline of knowledge from a University established by an Act of Parliament or by a State legislature or an equivalent national institution recognized as a Deemed to be University or foreign University recognized as equivalent to the status of an Indian University by an authority competent to declare equivalence, may apply for a three years’ degree program in law leading to conferment of LL.B. degree on successful completion of the regular program conducted by a University whose degree in law is recognized by the Bar Council of India for the purpose of enrolment. Provided that applicants who have obtained + 2 Higher Secondary Pass Certificate or First Degree Certificate after prosecuting studies in distance or correspondence method shall also be considered as eligible for admission in the Integrated Five Years course or three years’ LL.B. course, as the case may be. Explanation: The applicants who have obtained 10 + 2 or graduation / post graduation through open Universities system directly without having any basic qualification for prosecuting such studies are not eligible for admission in the law courses.

First Background of this Problem

1) Open University gives admission to any person who can read and write by giving one exam which is called Preparatory exam and age minimum 18 years.

2) In such case student are not 10th and 12th Pass which is basic.

3) Students then started completing graduation and Post graduation etc. but they lacked 10th and 12th certificate

4) Many years back one matter was heard in Supreme court (Title of the case I don't remember state I suppose was Rajasthan ). Supreme Court held Bar Council of India have laid rules person should be 10th Pass + 12th Pass + Graduate for 3 years LLB course and 10th Pass + 12th Pass for 5 years LLB course

5) Supreme Court held person who have not completed 10th or 12th and did graduation will not be considered eligible for LLB .

This is background
-----------------------------------------
Your case

1) Since you have 10th Passing certificate and 12th Passing Certificate and Graduation degree from Mumbai University (even IDIOL) in my opinion you are 100% eligible

2) Symbiosis Law School interpretation regarding that Supreme Court Judgement is wrong but I think they have different rules additional to Bar Council rules and their fee structure is also high , So with their internal rules they may have denied you admission may be.

3) You give MH-CET , I think from 10th May CET forms you have to fill in Maharashtra see result then think. Concentrate on CET LLB . If you are doubtful give both CET for 5 year course and 3 year course , dates are different I suppose. (Check from College)

------------------------------------------

Recent development

1) There is one case pending in Supreme Court Shravan Kumar Vs Bar Council of India.

2) Mr. Shravan Kumar is claiming violation of various Fundamental Rights under Constitution by Bar Council of India for not allowing him to do LLB since he did not possess 10th or 12th but did graduation and working with advocate etc.

3) Matter has been converted into PIL and pending

4) If Shravan Kumar Wins then Open University etc. can also start LLB , so it is important case going on regarding Law education

5) When Advocate act was passed that time it was proposed any person could do LLB but Bar Council opposed it and then plan was given up.

6) This is old issue.
