Respected Sir,
I m a Law Student. I have a query regarding Legal Practitioners Fees Rules,1973. Whether this Legal Practitioners Fees Rules,1973 is applicable throughout India or will it differ from state to state. Is there difference in calculating the Advocates fees from state to state especially for Money Suit???

Dear Smrithi,

The Advocates fee is being fixed by each High Court under Section 27 of the Legal Practitioners' Act, 1879 (Central Act XVIII of 1879. Therefore the court fee structure fixed by the High Court would vary.

The fee structure so fixed will come to be handy only for the purpose of awarding cost by the court to the parties.

But the fee structure so fixed cannot be the basis for paying the Advocates fee by the clients.

Sorry sir. Plz don't get offended. I guess students can also raise queries in this site because in the members qualification option list , there is an option for law students too. So I have logged into it.
