We had a field(cultivating land) in Tirunelveli,tamilnadu which was registered in Kerala before 10years.What is the procedure to register it in Tirunelveli now

If you have immovable property in Kerala state also and land in Tamilnadu State, then only the properties of Kerala state and Tamilnadu State will be registered in Kerala State/Tamilnadu State. But the land situated in Tamilnadu state only cannot be registered in Kerala State as per Registration Act. see Sec.28 and 29 of the said Act. so state full facts.

You have to get the land re-register in the State of Tamilnadu as per Registration Act.

What was the purpose / process / reason / background of registration at Kerala? Was it a purchase / gift or otherwise?

Why it was registered in Kerala state when the property is situated in the jurisdiction of Tirunelveli, tamilnadu?

It has to be registered at Tirunelveli, Tamilnadu.

It could be that the registration was done much before 10 years, but before reorganisation of States. Some parts of Tirunelveli District were, in the past part of erstwhile Travancore (and subsequently, Thirukochi State.

In such case: is re-registration required and Is stamp duty/charges etc to be paid!

Is there a known precedence!

I am curious to know.

In my considered opinion. no re-registration is required. The change of Government is only in form. For the citizen, Government is a continuum.

@ P Venu! Travancore state is not in existence since 1949 (Both Travancore and Cochin merged in middle 1949) and the registration of TN land was made in Kerala just 10 years ago then how the theory of Travancore state can help the querist?
