Kindly clarify jurisdiction for 498a ipc

My sister was married to resident of Pihtoragarh, Uttrakhand and her engagement and marriage were done at Uttrakhand last year. After marriage, all the incidents of harassment and cruelty on my sister have taken place.

If cruelty is still on the go at delhi also then only delhi has jurisdiction otherwise it is only at pithoragarh

Do mention any of the incident of tortures to have happened in Delhi also so you can lodge complaint in Delhi also.

As of your stated fact no complaint is maintain before the court of law at Delhi.

If the cruelty continue at Delhi mean your sister is entitled to lodge a complaint at Delhi.

Sec.498 A is a criminal case so its territorial jurisdiction will be at the particular THANA area where the F.I.R. was lodged by the complainant complaining harassment and cruelty for necessary investigation and to take cognizance of the culprits.
