No case of criminal restraint or confinement arises.
You however lodge complaint with Registrar of cooperative society against the action of the managing committee.

issue legal notice to society to keep said gates open as closure of gate has caused inconvenience to all members of some buildings . if society refuses to relent move cooperative court against the society

As rightly advised, yourself as well as all those affected by this act of the society, combine and issue a legal notice to open the gate and mention that the alleged resolution has been passed without any consideration by affected members, if this do not invoke any response, you may approach the cooperative court for an injunction against the society office bearers restraining them from indulging in any such activity in the future too affecting the residents of the society.
