(Querist) 29 November 2015 This query is : Resolved
Sir/mam
I have joined Govt. Of Punjab in Dept. of Health & Family Welfare as Medical Officer . Its's Group A post also known as PCMS-I .
Regarding above said topic I have few queries :
Ques no. 1 ::: I want to go on "leave without pay" . Is "extraordinary leave " same as "leave without pay" ??
Ques no. 2 ::: If same How do I apply for it ?? How much time in advance do I have to give the application ??
Ques no. 3 ::: Max duration of this leave I can avail at a stretch or in pieces ??
Ques no. 4 ::: Who will be the sanctioning authority in my case ??

Mr. Randhawa,

The nature of your questions do not convince me that you are a Group A Officer of the Punjab Government.

Anyway, please intimate since when you have joined the department and what type of training has been imparted to you so far in departmental rules and regulations during your induction training period?

Do you want to go for higher studies or explore the scope for private clinic?

Please contact your director of health personal department for information.

@ PS Dhingra sir

We are imparted only introduction session regarding departmental rules broadly outlining basic things . It has been 2 months since I joined the PCMS-I .

@ Rajendra K Goyal

I want to explore other job avenues . Thank you for your advice .

Dear Shri Randhawa,

You are free to explore other job avenues any time. But, that has no connection with the induction training course for the present job. For every other Group A post also you will have to undergo an induction training, where departmental rules and regulation will have to be taught to you, as a part of your probation, as you will be supposed to be the leave sanctioning authority also, besides other controlling functions. Such training on departmental rules is never imparted just as an awareness program for personal use, but to get yourself acquainted about rules and regulations as a competent sanctioning authority. So, don't try to take that so lightly. I wonder, if you have not been required to pass a departmental test on rules & regulations leading towards successful completion of probation period.

So, instead of myself making a spoon feeding, better go through leave rules of your state and understand about your entitlement & even other things about leave rules, which even a Group D employee understands well.

However, I can clarify your other point that "extraordinary leave" and "leave without pay" are one and the same thing.

For rest of the things, better go through rules on extraordinary leave.

@PS Dhingra sir ,

I went through the Punjab CSR Vol I which contains all rules regarding the leave . It doesn't mention any advance time before which I have to inform the govt. about my leave and ask for sanctioning the same . I got other necessary information as well after reading the same .Thank you for your assistance and I do agree that in addition to clinical training that we undergo during induction, more of service rules classes need to be added for better job satisfaction and redressal .
