Cheque dishonour

Sir, I issued a cheque to someone and write the amount in word as "Two Five Zero Zero Zero" instead of "Twenty Five Thousand" and bank returned the cheque marked dishonor for not matching the amount in figure and word. I issued second cheque with proper writing. I just want to know my writing was legally wrong or right?

What you have written is ‘digits in words’ but not the ‘amount in words’ as you are required to write.

When an account holder writes something else other than the amount in words in the prescribed column of cheque the bank need not honour it.

A cheque is a negotiable instrument instructing a bank to pay a specific amount of specific currency from a specific account held in the name of the depositor with that institution.

Cheque is an unconditional order to pay an amount of money. So writing some digits in words cannot be a specific order for payment as per the law governing it.

Your writing was legally wrong. Can you state for what specific purpose you adopted such a style instead of writing the amount in thousands appropriately?
