Cghs facilities

(Querist) 25 March 2015 This query is : Resolved
I have joined as a cent. govt. employee on September 2013....I haven't enrolled myself to cghs facilities till now (thought I reside cghs covered area), subsequently deduction hasn't been made from my salary till now.....but now the accounts section is going to cut chgs arrear of past 18 months.....can they cut arrear??

Yes, enrollment and deduction is compulsory. Arrear can be recovered from the date of your joining the post. Quite a useful facility with nominal deduction per month, of course. Get the CGHS card prepared for your nearest dispensary to avail medical facilities for you and your dependants.

I think, Govt. can't forced a employee to take its facility....facility & services are always optional....one can opt out of the facility...I Haven't been ill for the past 5-6 years....and I guess even I get CGHS card prepared, i won't visit its dispensary, then why to waste even a "nominal amount" for a facility, which I m not going to avail.

Wish you remain in sound health for the whole of your life. But, if you have your own conviction, it is useless to give you any more advice, except to suggest you to read the rules on cghs, which would be readily available in the medical section of your office.

However, if you feel, "Govt. can't force a employee to take its facility....facility & services are always optional," why you are subscribing to the New Pension Scheme (NPS)and PF, enforced compulsorily by the Government on you. Can you opt out of that?

Some welfare schemes have to be implemented by the Government for the common benefits of its employees and their benefits.

Well advised by expert Mr. Dhingra, author please understand the answer given. If you do not want to get enrolled in cghs, you give the same in writing to your department and wit for their further reaction to it, I dont think you will be encouraged by your office.

thanx experts....especially Mr. Dhingra sir, now gonna enroll myself in cghs....(though, i think....it should be my FUNDAMENTAL RIGHT to opt out, which I can't right now due to its "FORCED BENEFIT SCHEME" nature.
Thanx once again
