Cancellation of fir

Fir was registered under section 420 against husband initiated by the wife . Matter compromised and Cancellation report was submitted by the police in the court. Court sent a notice to complainant but the complainant not coming to the court and also not filing any protest petition. court sent the notice to the complainant but not served as she is not available in India . My point is
1. what is the limitation to file protest petition and where it is mentioned?
ii. if it can be closed please cite any authority / law point.
