Borrowed money recovery

My friend borrowed Rs 20,000 for a month but now it's already 2 years he is not returning my money even after continuous reminder. Please let me know what steps I can take legally to get my money back. I don't have any legal documents but I hv wats app messages about the request of money and also delaying of payment.

Whatapp messages are due evidence which can definitely be proved before a court of law. documents also includes electronic gadgets. File a civil suit for recovery but better to serve him through a legal notice first may under that grab he returns your money.

In order to recover Rs. 20,000/- you will have to wait for at least 2-3 years and spend at least Rs. 50,000/- in litigation.

You may try to get a cheque of some future date.

Recovery suit would be time and cost consuming.

I already told her that I am going to file a case but she still not ready to pay.can I go to police station and complain ? Please advice
