hello ,
one of our friend is willing to establishing a jewellery Hallmarking Centre in ranchi jharkhand , so plz guide to obtaining a license under BIS Act , and procedure for the same , also if anyone have a consultancy contacts in ranchi plz provide same ,,

Your friend need to make application to the local authority for doing business of XXXX.

submit the required document along with it.

No need to hire consultant for it.

I differ with the opinion of some experts. No local authority is competent to grant a license in hallmarking of jewellery or to establish a jewellery Hallmarking Centre.

Only Bureau of Business Standards is authorised to grant individual or corporate license of Hallmarking on application made on standard prescribed form, along with several basic necessary documents, in fulfillment of strict prescribed conditions.

Your friend may therefore have to apply to the BSI, NOT to any local authority, for grant of a license.

Dear Gopal Soni,

Your friend can apply directly to the BBS for license on the prescribed form along with four types of other documents, i.e., documents establishing the Firm, authenticating the Firm's premises, identity proof of signatory on the Application, and Agreement on non-judicial stamp paper of Rs 100/- in the prescribed format along with Location map of premises.
